More than the happy path

Goal: Test the cases that break apps, not just the one that works.

Try it

  1. In your practice-app folder, create TEST-MATRIX.md and copy in the table above.
  2. Add one more row of your own: an edge case you think could break it.
  3. Run every row yourself in the browser. Fill in Observed and Result.
  4. Make a save point when you're done.

You're done when all five rows have an Observed note and a Pass, Fail or Unverified. If one fails, that's a win. You found it before a user did.

Recap

  • The happy path is the hopeful case. Most bugs hide off it.
  • Edge cases are blank, odd, refresh and empty situations. Pick a handful.
  • A test matrix writes expected results down first. Skipped means Unverified.
