Lesson 4.4 · 4:23
Handoffs: start fresh without losing work
Goal: When a session's desk gets full, write a handoff file and carry on in a fresh session.
Try it
- Open your Module 3 app in OpenCode. Use the session you've been working in, or do one small change first.
- Ask for
HANDOFF.mdwith the headings above. - Read it and correct at least one thing (add evidence, or move something to "not checked yet").
- Make a save point, then start a new session.
- Send the "read brief and handoff, don't change anything" message.
You're done when the fresh session correctly tells you what works, what's not checked, and the next smallest task, without you explaining anything in chat.
Recap
- Long sessions fill the desk. Forgetting and muddled answers are the signs.
- A handoff file says where things stand: evidence, unknowns, next task.
- Read it yourself, save, start fresh, and have the new session read the brief and the handoff first.
Next lesson (4.5): a fair way to test whether a different model does your task better.
